For fans of the horror genre, Adam Sydney's story crafting is a cut above.
Intriguing, suspenseful and ultimately horrifying. The vivid descriptions of the endless rooms in the house are like something from a nightmare. The climax is good. Definitely worth reading.
To me, it was a fascinating read because it was impossible to predict (original), and also has some some first-class portrayals of secondary characters. Scary, horrifying - and in an original way. The tone or voice reminded me a little of Edgar Allen Poe.

Now, to the Real Stuff
I think the author has done real, uncomfortably scary creepiness better than just about anybody. Also, he seems to be amazingly deft at creating extreme suspense at will. At times, my heart was actually seriously pounding during the more action-y parts. But the SCARY parts - WOW - I felt more actual physical terror at times than I thought I could. And BTW it's EVEN scarier if you have paid close attention to the clues revealed as the climax approaches, which I only figured out somewhat later basically because I was too involved to think when this thing heated up.
It creeps on you, unaware... and then you get the chills and the scares this is how it feels to read this book. It's just so eerie, almost dreamlike - well, more like a nightmare. Very well written, it's impossible to put it down!!
Welcome Home...well, no one's welcome and it's no home, but it IS a brilliant novel, creepy, but the creepy creeps up, until it's too late to escape, you have to keep turning the page, you don't want to, but...there is really no choice. And in the end, you wish you hadn't. But if you love suspense, terror, pure evil, identity issues, innocence gone astray, illusion and delusion, you will love Welcome Home. I read it twice. What is wrong with me! Oh, this Sydney guy actually knows how to write a brilliant story, so that has something to do with the entire experience.
